DML Clerking provides expert and professional clerking support to governing bodies of primary and secondary maintained schools, academies (single-academy trusts and MATs), free schools, independent school, voluntary-aided schools and further education colleges.

 

A good clerk is a valuable and essential asset to any governing body, and duties undertaken efficiently can make a real difference to the governing body's role in school improvement.

 

The work is interesting, varied and challenging, as well as rewarding.

 

The Clerk to the Governing Body is a role provided for by education governance regulations and is responsible for:

  • Convening and attending meetings of the governing body;

  • Taking minutes;

  • Keeping a register of governing body members and attendance;

  • Keeping a track of membership; and

  • Giving advice and support on relevant procedure, constitutional issues and regulations. 

 

DML Clerking clerks are fully trained and supported to perform these duties.
